Method 1 — String or paper strip (recommended)
- Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of non-stretch string.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you will wear the ring on.
- Mark where the strip overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres with a ruler.
- This measurement is your finger circumference. Match it to the EU size column in the chart below (EU size ≈ circumference in mm).
Method 2 — Existing ring
- Take a ring that fits the same finger comfortably.
- Measure the inside diameter in millimetres (do not include the band thickness).
- Find the matching diameter in the chart below.
Important notes
- Measure at room temperature — fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold.
- Your dominant hand often has slightly larger fingers.
- Wide bands (over 5 mm) feel tighter; consider going up half a size.
- For engagement rings, measure the finger you will wear it on — not your dominant hand by default.
